A LIFE IN THE MAKING

Privacy Policy

Effective November 4, 2026 · Applies to the iOS app A Life in the Making.

Your story belongs to you. A Life in the Making is a self-guided, psychology-informed reflection app for adults. It is educational, not psychotherapy, diagnosis, or crisis support.

1. Information you create

When you use the app, you may write reflections and notes, create intentions and practices, record moments in a timeline, and select photographs for your Embodiment Gallery or Tree of Life. This content is saved locally on your device in the app’s storage. You do not need an account to use the app.

2. Information collected by the developer

In the reviewed app version, the developer does not receive your reflections, selected photos, intentions, or timeline entries. The app includes no advertising network, behavioral tracking, or in-app analytics service. There is no automatic server upload or account synchronization.

Apple may separately process App Store purchase and diagnostic information according to its own policies. The developer may receive aggregate App Store reporting from Apple, which is separate from the private reflections stored in the app.

3. Optional Apple features

You can choose to create a Calendar event, add an Apple Reminder, or schedule a local notification for a personal intention. The app requests permission when required. These actions are voluntary and are not necessary to use the reflection exercises. Events and reminders you choose to create are managed by Apple’s apps and your configured services; removing A Life in the Making does not automatically remove those items.

4. Exports, sharing, and backups

You may choose to export a PDF or text journal. If you share or save a file to Apple Files, iCloud Drive, or another destination, that destination’s privacy and retention practices apply. The app does not automatically share these exports.

You may also create an encrypted backup that preserves your editable reflections and saved images. That archive is encrypted locally using AES-256-GCM with a key derived from your passphrase. The passphrase is not stored by the app. If it is lost, the archive cannot be recovered through the app. The local editable data itself is not separately encrypted with that backup passphrase.

5. Retention and deletion

Locally saved entries remain on the device until you edit or remove them, delete the app and its data, or restore another backup. Some features let you delete an individual reflection or item. Deleting the app removes its local content; iOS’s Offload App feature may retain app data. Files you have exported or saved elsewhere must be deleted separately from those destinations, and Calendar or Reminders items must be managed in their respective apps.

6. Security and limits

The app relies on iOS device protections for local app data and provides optional, passphrase-encrypted archive export. No security method can guarantee absolute protection. Use a device passcode, store any archive passphrase securely, and avoid storing sensitive content on shared devices.

7. Children and intended audience

The app is intended for adults and is not designed for or directed at children.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when app features or data practices change. An updated effective date will be shown at the top of this page.

9. Support inquiries

If you contact us by email, we receive the information and address you choose to include in your message so we can respond. Please avoid sending sensitive reflection content, private photographs, or backup passphrases.
